How to Get Your Business on Google

When customers in Nairobi search for a pharmacy, restaurant, or hardware store, the first results they see are the Google Maps listings — not websites. This guide shows you how to claim your free Google Business Profile so your business appears there.

Why it matters

6 Steps to Claim Your Google Listing

Create or sign in to a Google Account

Go to business.google.com and sign in. If you don't have a Google account, create one for free — it takes two minutes.

Search for your business name

Type your business name. If it appears in the dropdown, select it and click "Claim this business." If not, choose "Add your business to Google."

Choose your business category

Select the category that best describes what you do — for example, Pharmacy, Restaurant, Hardware Store, or Salon. This determines which searches you appear in.

Add your location

Enter your business address — your estate, street, and area in Nairobi. If you serve customers at their location (e.g. delivery or repairs), you can also specify a service area instead.

Verify your business

Google will verify that you own the business, typically by sending a code by postcard to your address, or sometimes by phone or video call. Complete this step to make your listing live on Maps.

Complete your profile

Add your phone number, website, opening hours, photos of your business, and a short description. The more complete your profile, the higher you tend to rank in local results.

Also list on Adenta. Having both a Google Business Profile and an Adenta listing means customers can find you in two places. Your Adenta profile also links back to you from category and location pages, which helps your Google ranking over time.
